International Singing Competition New Voices for Opera G. Fraschini

The competitions are organized with selections at the headquarters of the Circolo Pavia Lirica and the final at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia.
The competition, whose first edition dates back to 1976, and is held every two years, is attended by students from all over the world. These participants, accepted within the limit of 35/40 years, are examined by a Jury chosen from high-profile names in the artistic field, such as former famous singers, music teachers, music critics and entrepreneurs.
After the interruption of the XXIII Competition due to "Covid" causes, in 2019, it was resumed and carried out in the period 12-15 October 2022 with the presence of over 70 participants, mostly from Korea and China.
The presence of Soprano Selene Zanetti was recorded as guest of honor. The same performed by interpreting some lyrical pieces arousing great admiration and emotion in the audience present, over 300 people.
During the event there was a performance of the Ballet Corps of the Academy School of Pavia, directed by Marilina Piemontese.
Winners: Soprano Magda Gallo (Peru') 1st Prize; Quinchuan Lan (China) 2nd prize, ex aequo Soprano Iunno Connolly and baritone Yohan Johnn Jl.
